I have both personal and professional interest in racial trauma. As a licensed trauma therapist, I specialize in intergenerational trauma, PTSD and addiction treatment. I found that there were aspects of addressing racial trauma that I could not reach that were beyond therapy. Coaching allows me to facilitate your using skills and strategies to cope with racial trauma "on the ground" so to speak. It is not a substitute for mental health treatment. If you need that, I strongly urge you to seek a mental health counselor. I am happy to let you know of the benefits of therapy and point you in the right direction.
Coaching is really focused on education, skills-building, strategy planning, goal attainment and mentoring. I have provided community services for BIPOC for many years in the capacity as a lawyer and also as a therapist. I have testified at state hearings on behalf of inmates as a Board member of Harvard Law School's Prison Legal Assistance Project and am the recipient of a Leadership and Public Service Award from the City of Compton after my work in response to the Rodney King Protests. As the daughter of immigrants from the Windrush generation, I have a life long interest in furthering social justice on a micro and macro level. My training as a Social Worker reflects this commitment.
At Racial Trauma Coaching, you have the opportunity to be part of a support network in addition to receiving coaching services to navigate the stress and emotional burden of racial trauma. Please contact me, to let me know how best I can help.
